Your collar is sewn atop heavy duty webbing for added support. I love both the raw edge for a handmade/laid back feel or the refined edge for a cleaner look. The raw edge will shed slightly for a couple weeks until it is broken in, you can simply pull out or trim the loose threads, make sure to leave a message in your order notes if you prefer a raw edge because this style comes in a refined edge if not specified.

The 'custom' sizing option offers the most tailored fit for your dog, ensuring that it is not bulky with unnecessary material and that all colors/patterns are visible. You can also select from the regular sizing if you prefer.

Only quality materials are used to make this collar. The martingale style utilizes welded components for added security and every seam that supports your dog’s weight is reinforced multiple times. The heavy duty webbing allows for both comfort and strength. As with any collar you will need to be mindful of wear as time goes on and replace if necessary. We recommend hand washing in cold water and air drying to keep your collar in its best condition.
Please make sure to measure your pet’s neck prior to purchasing. If you don’t have a tape measure easily accessible you can measure with a string and ruler. Can collars be made in 1” width instead of 1.5”? / Can I order a 1” wide collar in the martingale style? / Can I get a custom width?
It depends but if the collar you are interested in is available with a printed name you are good to go. If the design spans the full 1.5” width (excluding collars with names) it likely can not be made in 1”. / I only offer martingales in the 1.5” or 2" width. / The widths I offer are 3/8”, 1”, 1.5" and 2”.
Can I order a matching leash?
I do not make leashes at this time.
Can I add a name/number to a style without customization available?
Definitely; however to preserve the design all names and numbers will need to be added via the patch that can be found in the “Upgrades” section.
Can I order a color that is not on your site?
Definitely. It helps me a lot if you are descriptive with the shade (ex. ‘Bubblegum pink’ as opposed to ‘pink’). I have most colors on hand so you are welcome to place your order with a note but I do ask that you also follow up with a message so I can confirm right away that your color is available. For custom colors I may need to use my discretion on which color ink to print in.
Can collars be made smaller in length than what is available?
Yes but it is best to get approval before ordering for lengths shorter than 14” if selecting a style with a custom printed name. I will need to know the exact neck measurement, how many letters are in the name, and if you prefer a buckle or martingale style.
Can some of the info for my pet tag be added on the back?
I only offer designs on the front of the tag unless otherwise stated in the listing.
What is my order status/when will it ship?
As soon as your order is placed I get to work creating it just for you. Sometimes this process can take up to three weeks but we think it’s worth the wait! Your confirmation email will have more information about when to expect your package and you will receive a tracking number as soon as it flies the coop.
I need my order sooner, can you send it out in less time?
Out of respect for customers that have already been waiting I do not bump orders up; I create everything in the order it is received. Many packages do ship well before the expected date but I always quote up to three weeks so I can make sure everything is perfect before it heads out.

This collar is one of my favorites I have purchased! It looks and fits amazing on my boxer. Caitlin was very kind when I sent my dog's measurements. It did take about a month, but this was clear from the start and it came on time. Would definitely order again!

This is my second purchase with Hiss and Howl and they are just wonderful! The first collar I ordered was lost in the mail and the owner quickly reshipped with a little extra to replace it. This time it arrived quickly, and is beautiful and just as pictured. Fantastic shop.

What a beautiful collar!! Much more beautiful than anything I have ever seen/ found at a dog store. My Rhodesian Ridgeback has a really large neck and this martingale collar fits him beautifully. I esp loved what the seller included in the package with the collar. She sounds like she truly loves helping animals which makes me want to buy from her again and again.
